Emma M-C Dowd
I have spent the last year and a half in online classes while working on a degree in English and Art History at Carleton University. I also studied Fine Arts at St. Francis Xavier University, and have taken part in a number of classes at the Ottawa School of Art. I have held leadership and organizing roles working with summer camps, ranging from camp councillor through to coordinator.
While at St.FX, I won art awards for figure drawing and landscape painting. I have also won awards for photography and artistic excellence. I paint with watercolours, oils, acrylics, and egg tempera, in addition to drawing with pencil and ink. I also pursue photography as a hobby; all of the images on this site are my own.
When I am taking photos I often look with an eye for future painting projects in mind. I like using elements of pattern and repetition in works. At my best, I work using a combination of careful observation in person as well as a range of photos that carefully observe details and define shapes and spacial relationships.
